Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal humorously conveyed a message to the United States that resonates with many Indians. During a recent event at the residence of the US Ambassador in India, he made light-hearted comments linking the India-US relationship to the recent T20 World Cup match, which has since gained traction on social media.

While addressing the gathering, Goyal pointed out that the 18% tariff imposed by the US on Indian goods reminded him of the margin by which India triumphed over the US in the T20 match. Experts believe this agreement will strengthen economic ties between the two nations. While Indian exporters will gain access to a larger market, American producers will find increased opportunities in India's vast consumer base. Additionally, this agreement is expected to deepen strategic partnerships, as trade often serves as a foundation for broader diplomatic relations.
