Shilpa Shetty's Call for Digital Awareness

Mumbai, Feb 10: Actress Shilpa Shetty has emphasized the importance of nurturing children who are digitally aware rather than those who are merely addicted to technology.

As a mother of two, Shilpa expressed her concerns about the internet's significant influence on young minds, highlighting the need for parental guidance in managing their online exposure.

In a video shared on her Instagram, she remarked, "Today is Safer Internet Day, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts not just as a public figure but as a concerned parent. The internet serves as a powerful educator and a creative outlet, but it also has its drawbacks that we must recognize."

She further noted, "While technology should not be outright banned, it is essential to find a balance in how children access and engage with it."

Shilpa stressed the importance of educating children about the reality of online content, stating, "We must be aware of what our children are viewing and interacting with online. Open communication is vital; curiosity thrives in dialogue, not silence. Utilize parental controls, but more importantly, foster trust. Monitoring until the age of 16 is not about control; it's about care. Teach them that not everything they encounter online is genuine, kind, or safe."

Through this initiative, Shilpa aims to inspire a shift towards raising children who are informed and responsible digital users.

"I may not have all the solutions, but I want to ignite a meaningful discussion today. We must collaborate to cultivate digitally aware children rather than those who are digitally dependent. The guidance we provide today will instill confidence for tomorrow, which is crucial for our future," she concluded her message.
