A new record in batting was set by Tim Seifert and Finn Allen in the 11th match of Group D in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, taking place in Chennai. New Zealand made a flawless batting record while chasing their 174-run target against the United Arab Emirates.
The opening pair of Seifert and Allen were too good in the run chase, adding 175 runs unbeaten to take their team to a 10-wicket victory. Seifert was dismissed with 89 runs from 42 deliveries, while Allen contributed 84 runs from 50 deliveries. They chased down the target in only 15.2 overs, making it the highest partnership of the T20 World Cup.
Their stand also registered the highest successful run chase without losing a wicket in the tournament, which showed total domination, composure, and attacking intent from the very beginning.

2. Alex Hales & Jos Buttler - 170* Runs vs India, T20 World Cup 2022

England’s semi-final encounter with India in the 2022 T20 World Cup still stands out as one of the most lopsided matches in a knockout stage. England’s openers Alex Hales and Jos Buttler made the chase look easy in pursuit of India’s total of 168/6.
The two formed an unbeaten partnership of 170 runs, reaching the target in just 16 overs while not losing any wickets. Buttler made 80, while Hales hammered 86 as England won by 10 wickets.
This partnership helped the English reach the final and was the highest partnership in the history of the T20 World Cup until the record was beaten by Seifert and Allen in 2026.
3. Rilee Rossouw & Quinton de Kock - 168 Runs vs Bangladesh, T20 World Cup 2022

In the match against Bangladesh in the 2022 tournament, South Africa witnessed a dramatic turnaround after an early mishap. The Proteas lost their captain, Temba Bavuma, for two runs, but then there was an incredible partnership.

Sri Lanka’s legendary batting pair, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, showcased their class during the 2010 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. After losing Sanath Jayasuriya early, the duo took charge of the innings.
They added 166 runs for the second wicket against West Indies at Bridgetown. Sangakkara scored 68 runs, while Jayawardene scored 98 runs from 56 balls without being dismissed.
Their partnership helped Sri Lanka post 195 for 3, and the bowlers later restricted West Indies to 138, sealing a comfortable win. The stand showcased the talents of both batters who belonged to the most skilled group of their generation.
5. Rahmanullah Gurbaz & Ibrahim Zadran - 154 Runs vs Uganda, T20 World Cup 2024
Afghanistan’s rise in world cricket has been marked by fearless batting, and their opening pair delivered a memorable performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran established their dominance against Uganda from their first ball onward.
The duo stitched an opening partnership of 154 runs in just 14.3 overs. The opening pair scored 183 runs total as Gurbaz scored 76 runs and Zadran scored 70 runs.
