New Delhi: Pakistan never fails to amuse, especially the country’s local TV channels, which have become the laughing stock of global media. In a time when the world is embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and using it for progressive and productive purposes, a Pakistani media channel has come under fire for using AI to shape a narrative by playing a fabricated, fake audio clip of BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla.

In a talk show aired by the reputed channel ARY Media and hosted by former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, a fake audio clip of Shukla was played to set a narrative in front of the Pakistani public around the T20 World Cup 2026 boycott saga.

After the disgraceful video went viral, Shukla cleared the air with a post on social media, clarifying his real statement after PCB took a U-turn and withdrew the boycott of the India match.

The cricket talk show on ARY News aired a fake audio clip of Shukla reacting to Pakistan’s U-turn on the boycott of the high-octane India-Pakistan clash on February 15.

Here’s the disgraceful clip

“I would like to show you a clip of BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla,” Malik is heard saying in the studio before playing the fake audio.

In the clip, a voice (hardly) resembling Rajeev Shukla says: “I am delighted to see the outcome of the deliberations initiated by the ICC representative on the repeated requests by BCCI to convince Pakistan to play against India. It’s a good solution, an amicable solution which has been found to give priority to cricket, important to the game. This is what has been done.”

Contrary to the altered audio clip, Rajeev Shukla congratulated and thanked the ICC for resolving the issue and never mentioned BCCI’s name.

What Shukla really said?

“I would like to thank the ICC chairman (Jay Shah) and its office-bearers on behalf of the BCCI for finding a very good solution. After discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and after listening to all sides, this decision has been taken,” Shukla had said after PCB announced its withdrawal from boycott stance.

“This decision is very important for cricket. Cricket must go on, and the World Cup will now be a big success. This is a big achievement as far as the ICC is concerned. Even the Bangladesh Cricket Board has praised the ICC, so it has listened to all sides and arrived at the decision after taking into consideration the interests of everyone,” he added.
