PF Withdrawal: The old hassle of PF withdrawals is over! From April 2026, the EPFO's new app will send funds directly to bank accounts via UPI. No more weeks of waiting or office visits. Learn how a single click of a button and auto-settlement of up to ₹25,000 will make your life easier.

PF Withdrawal: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is preparing to completely overhaul its system. By April 2026, the EPFO is launching a new and advanced mobile app, which will simplify the lives of approximately 80 million PF account holders. Under the EPFO 3.0 project, withdrawing PF funds will be as easy as transferring money from a bank.

The week-long wait is over.

Previously, withdrawing PF funds required filling out a claim form and waiting for several days. But with the launch of the new app, you'll be able to withdraw money directly to your bank account via UPI. You simply need to log in to the app and enter your UPI PIN. According to reports, you can withdraw up to ₹25,000 at a time.

In the future, upon opening the app, your PF balance will be displayed in two different categories:

Eligible Balance: This is the amount you can withdraw immediately for your needs.

Locked Balance: This portion will be reserved for your retirement security and cannot be withdrawn. This will make it easier for users to understand how much money they actually have available for spending.

Money will be credited to their bank account within 3 days

EPFO has also made significant changes to the auto-settlement rules. Now, claims up to ₹5 lakh will no longer require official approval. This will be done automatically through software, and the funds will be disbursed within 3 days. Previously, this limit was only ₹1 lakh. This feature will prove to be a game-changer for important tasks like illness, marriage, or home construction.

Direct connection to BHIM UPI

This new EPFO app will work in conjunction with BHIM and other UPI platforms. The Ministry of Labor is currently testing it on 100 dummy accounts to ensure there are no technical issues at launch.
