PTC News Desk: A 28-year-old Hindu man was found dead in Bangladesh’s Moulvibazar district on Wednesday, just a day before voting, raising new worries about the safety of minorities during the elections.
The man, Ratan Sahuakar, worked at tea gardens in the Champa area. His body was found around 10 am. He had several deep injuries, and his hands and legs were tied. Reports said blood was still coming from his wounds when he was found.
His co-workers believe he was murdered because of the severe injuries and the way his body was tied. Police have started investigating the case to find out if the killing was linked to the elections or happened for some other reason. Officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of his death.
This incident happened just days after another Hindu man was killed in Mymensingh district. The victim, 62-year-old rice trader Sushen Chandra Sarkar, was attacked by unknown people with a sharp weapon inside his shop. The attackers also stole a large amount of money before running away. Sarkar was taken to a hospital, but doctors said he had already died.
