The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has officially dismissed allegations of hygiene lapses and adulteration following a viral video showing a vendor pouring soft drinks back into bottles at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The footage, which circulated during the ongoing T20 World Cup matches, sparked a social media outcry with claims that unsold beverages were being repackaged for resale to spectators.

The video featured a narrator claiming that the incident was a scam where leftover drinks were being collected to be sold the following day. The clip quickly gained traction, raising concerns about the operational standards and food safety protocols maintained at the stadium during high-profile international matches.

In a formal response posted on X, the DDCA clarified that the actions seen in the video were part of a standard waste segregation process rather than a resale attempt. According to the authorized concessionaire, the vendor was liquidating unused beverages into bottles to separate wet waste from dry waste. This procedure is reportedly aligned with the venue's waste management and recycling policies.

The association emphasized that it maintains strict hygiene and environmental guidelines at the stadium. The statement reiterated that the bottles used in the video were designated for disposal and were processed responsibly according to established operational standards. The DDCA assured fans that the "commercial arrangements" with vendors include rigorous checks to prevent any health risks to the public.
