Kalaburagi: Members of the opposition staged a brief protest on Wednesday morning after the general body meeting of the Kalaburagi City Municipal Corporation failed to begin at the scheduled time.
The meeting was fixed for 11 am. BJP members, who are in the opposition in the corporation, were present at the venue. However, even after 12 noon, Mayor Varsha Rajeev Jane and members of the ruling party had not arrived.
Protesting the delay, BJP corporators said the meeting had not started even an hour after the scheduled time and that quorum had not been met. They alleged that the ruling party members were not interested in holding discussions.
The opposition members later staged a dharna in front of the Town Hall.
Leader of the Opposition in the corporation Shobha Desai, along with members Vishal Dargi, Mallu Udanur and Sachin Kadaganchi, were among those present during the protest.
