World Costliest Rice: Rice is a part of every household’s kitchen, but have you ever heard about such rice whose price shines like gold. Japan’s Kinmei Premium is the most expensive rice in the world. Both the taste and qualities of this rice, which has been registered in the Guinness World Records, are incomparable.
When it comes to luxury food, the names of saffron or truffles come to mind, but Japan has also brought rice into the same category. Kinmemai Premium is considered to be the most expensive rice in the world. Its price per kg is around Rs 15000 ($155). With this much money, a middle class family can get ration for several months or buy a branded smartphone.
What is its specialty?
The most unique thing about this rice is that it does not need to be washed before cooking. It is prepared through special rice polishing technology. When normal rice is washed, many of its nutrients get washed away in water but this is not the case with Kinmeimai. It is cooked directly without washing so that its vitamins and minerals remain intact.
Combination of taste and health
In appearance this rice looks exactly like small pearls or white diamonds. Talking about taste, it tastes much sweeter and nuttier than normal rice. It becomes quite sticky after cooking which further enhances its taste. In terms of health, it contains 6 times more liposaccharides than ordinary rice, which tremendously increases the body’s immunity.
Name in Guinness World Records
Due to the price of this rice and its premium quality, in the year 2016, it was given the title of being the most expensive rice in the world by Guinness World Records. For its cultivation, the best paddy is selected from different regions of Japan and it is put through a special process for 6 months.
Kinmei Premium is known not only for filling the stomach but also as a status symbol and superfood. In Japan it is often given on special occasions or as a luxury gift.
