Gabriel Martinelli's gesture towards Wolves supporters swiftly backfired after Arsenal surrendered a late leveller at Molineux. The Gunnersheld a 2-0 lead before being forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate and have now secured just three victories from their previous eight matches in the division.
Martinelli was selected ahead of Leandro Trossard, with the Brazilian making his maiden league starting appearance since the 0-0 stalemate at Nottingham Forest last month. He went on to play the full 90 minutes.
Bukayo Sakabroke the deadlock inside five minutes, whilst Piero Hincapie extended his team's advantage shortly following the interval. The Ecuadorian's strike was subjected to an extensive VAR review, but he judged his run impeccably.

Hugo Bueno initiated Wolves' fightback with a magnificent curling strike just beyond the hour mark, and moments later, Martinelli was spotted lifting his arms and gesturing to the home supporters about the scoreline after earning a corner.
Footage of the incident was uploaded to X, with fans branding his actions 'arrogant'. And it would be the Wolves fans who would go on to have the last laugh as Martinelli's actions came back to haunt him.
In stoppage time, after Gabriel and David Raya collided whilst attempting to handle a Wolves delivery, Samuel Edozie's attempt struck the upright before deflecting off Calafiori and into the goal to claim Wolves an unlikely point.
The stalemate has handed Manchester City an enormous advantage in the Premier League title contest. Pep Guardiola's outfit will meet Newcastle United on Saturday, whilst Arsenal travel to Tottenham in the north London derby.

In his post-match press conference, Arteta confessed: "Extremely disappointed, obviously, with the result, with the way the game ended, but we have to blame ourselves.
"I think the performance in the second half didn't show anything close to the standards that are required in this league to win, with the margin that I think should have existed today, especially in the manner that we played the first half.
"It's a moment of disappointment. We all want to talk a lot about how we're feeling, but it's not the moment to do that, because anything that we do has to always and only be with the intention to help the team. Right now I think we have to swallow that frustration.
"When you are at this level and at the top, you need to take the hit, because today we deserve them as well, and move on as quickly as possible, because on Sunday we have a big game coming up."
