Veteran player Quinton de Kock didn’t hold back when sharing his candid thoughts about this crucial match, as the Proteas prepare to take on the Men in Blue in the T20 World Cup 2026. 

When asked if the South Africans have what it takes to go all the way and defeat India in the finals, assuming both teams make it that far, de Kock acknowledged that predicting the outcome of a multinational tournament is quite tricky.

He pointed out that just one over or a single player can completely shift the game's dynamics, especially in such a fast-paced format. He also highlighted the unpredictable nature of global tournaments, where past performances don’t necessarily dictate future results. 

"No, I don't think so [that South Africa can beat India in the finals]. I think the nature of World Cups is that it doesn't allow favouritism at some point, because at any moment of time in a game, someone can win a game out of nowhere. So that's the thing," de Kock responded to CricTracker's query at the pre-match press conference.
