It's Snowdrop season, signalling the start of floral activity in the garden. The pure white droplet-like flowers are so uplifting after a long winter.
Snowdrops look dainty and delicate; however, they are very hardy, withstanding winter's harshest weather. Snowdrops mark the start of a new gardening year, and from here on, we should start to see other colours appearing in our garden. Snowdrops are a must-have for the garden, in the ground and in pots.
Snowdrops are easy to grow and care for, ideally planted as bulbs 'in the green', meaning they arrive with roots and green shoots already in place.
Then plant them immediately so they can flower this very Snowdrop season, and excitingly, they'll return each winter season.
Snowdrops will spread out over time, so if a patch of Snowdrops becomes too crowded, you can carefully lift them with a spade and divide them after the flowers have died back, but before the green leaves have died back.
Then find new spots for them in beds and borders across the garden.
