This protest march was announced a day earlier by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. He had said that he would lead a march from Man Singh Road roundabout to the Congress headquarters and raise his voice against the alleged ‘ruckus’ at the summit venue.
Speaking to the media at the protest site, Delhi BJP media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that BJP workers have gathered here voluntarily in large numbers. The country is proud of this global AI summit and this event will prove to provide benefits worth crores of rupees and thousands of jobs to the country in the future. He alleged that by protesting during the summit, Rahul Gandhi has shown his political frustration and the country will not forgive it.
Earlier, Virendra Sachdeva had claimed that the 10 people detained for ‘shirtless’ protest at the summit venue were not genuine Congress workers, but hired miscreants. When the youth of the country were showcasing innovations at the AI Summit and when India is moving ahead in the tech sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such a disruption is unfortunate.
In Karnataka, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also criticized the incident and said that the All India Congress Committee President should apologize to the country.
On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh government minister Anil Rajbhar also called the protests irresponsible. He said that when heads of state of 20 countries and representatives from all over the world were present on Indian soil and India was displaying global leadership in the AI field, then this kind of behavior in such a prestigious event cannot be said to be in the national interest.
