Photos shared on social media shows a rodent scurrying across a food court table at Lucky Plaza, Singapore, on Feb. 19, 2026.
The Singapore Food Agency has launched an investigation after a video surfaced showing a rodent on a food court table at Lucky Plaza.
In a video recording of the incident shared on Reddit on the night of Feb. 19, a rodent is seen poking its nose at a plate of food before scurrying across a table at the food court at Basement 1 of Lucky Plaza along Orchard Road, Channel News Asia reported.
A bystander filmed the scene on a phone, while a woman hurriedly grabbed her handbag as the rodent approached.
Moments later, a man was seen passing by and capturing the animal using what appeared to be a tablecloth, The Straits Times reported.
Although the agency enforces regulatory controls, food operators are responsible for maintaining proper hygiene and food preparation standards, the agency said, adding that it may contact the individual who provided the feedback as part of evidence-gathering efforts and will take enforcement action if sufficient proof is obtained.
Last year, Singapore overtook Thailand’s Bangkok and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh to be named Asia’s third best street food city after Penang and Hanoi by British magazine Time Out.
