• Ficus religiosa

While selecting wood for Holika Dahan, some things should be kept in mind. In such a situation, wood from Peepal tree should not be used for burning Holika.

Peepal is considered a god tree in Hindu religion. Lord Krishna himself has said in Srimad Bhagavad Gita that I am Peepal among the trees. Peepal is considered to be the abode of ancestors along with Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Burning it causes Pitra Dosh and can hinder the growth of the family.

• Banyan

Apart from this, the banyan tree use of wood Should also not be done for Holika Dahan. The banyan tree has been described as a symbol of longevity and stability. It is worshiped during fasts like Vat Savitri. Burning its wood can disturb the happiness and peace of the family. It is considered to be the form of Shiva, hence it is prohibited to hand it over to fire.

Wood of Shami tree should not be used for Holika Dahan. Shami tree is very dear to Shani Dev and Lord Ganesha. Shami wood is used as Samidha of Yagya and not to be burnt with garbage. Burning it can lead to wrath of Shani Dev and financial crisis in the house.

• Mango

Even though mango wood is used in havan but Holika Dahan It is prohibited to cut green mango branches during this time. In the month of Phalgun, mango trees start appearing. Cutting a tree at this time is considered like destroying its children.

• Neem and Banana

Neem is used as a medicine and banana is considered a symbol of Lord Vishnu. Burning the wood of these two in the fire of Holika is considered inauspicious.
