Many important decisions were taken in the State Cabinet meeting held at the Assembly Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma. In the meeting, it was decided to bring Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill 2026 and Rajasthan Municipality (Amendment) Bill 2026.
Under this decision of the Cabinet, the way has been paved to provide eligibility to contest Panchayati Raj and Municipal elections to the people having more than two children. This decision is being considered an important change in the pre-conditions to local body elections.
Other issues to state interest were also discussed in the meeting and proposals to various departments were approved. The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to strengthening good governance, public participation and democratic values.
According to the state government, these amendment bills will ensure wider public representation at the local level and more people will get the opportunity to participate in the democratic process.
