Then wishes were made for the happiness and prosperity of the nation.
Pandit Ashish Sharma, priest of Mahakaleshwar temple, said that the world's first Holi is lit in the courtyard of Baba Mahakal. Even today, Baba Mahakal was worshiped under the leadership of Pandit Ghanshyam Guru, the official priest of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. Gulal was offered to him during the evening aarti. Today, along with the evening aarti, the festival of Holika was also celebrated with great pomp in the temple of Baba Mahakal.
During this time, Holika was decorated in the temple courtyard, which was worshipped. After that Holika was burnt with the chanting of Vedas. During this time, a large number of devotees were also present in the temple, who participated in this festival and received the blessings of Baba Mahakal.
There was a ban on bringing colors and gulal
The devotees coming to the court of Baba Mahakal had reached the temple with the wish of playing Holi with Baba Mahakal, but after an accident in the temple two years ago, the administration had shown complete strictness this time and had banned bringing color and gulal in the temple. Today, first the devotees coming to the temple were checked and only then they were allowed to enter the temple. Even though the devotees were not able to play colors with God during Holika Dahan in the courtyard of Baba Mahakal, they were happy that they could participate in this celebration of Holi Dahan.
Color and gulal will also be offered in Bhasma Aarti.
Even though this festival of Holi has been celebrated with great pomp in the court of Baba Mahakal today, but during the Bhasma Aarti to be held on Tuesday morning, this festival will also be celebrated with great pomp by offering herbal gulal to Baba Mahakal.
Sugar garland offered to Baba Mahakal
Along with offering colors and gulal to Baba Mahakal, sugar garlands are also offered on this day. Pandit Arpit Guru, priest of Mahakaleshwar temple, told that today after worshiping and adorning Baba Mahakal, Aarti was performed and then sugar garland was also offered to him.
