A "masterpiece" series labelled by audiences as "one of the best" crime dramas has arrived on Netflix for streaming. Originally launched in 2008, The Mentalist is a compulsive crime drama series that certain enthusiasts have dubbed the "American Sherlock Holmes". The show centres on Patrick Jane, who abandons his former existence and employs his keen observational abilities to crack intricate murder investigations following the serial killer slaying of his own family. Featuring Simon Baker in the lead role as Patrick Jane, audiences may also recognise Robin Tunney alongside Tim Kang, Owain Yeoman and Amanda Righetti.

Running across seven seasons, the beloved programme has finally arrived on Netflix this week (March 1), with every episode currently ready to binge watch. Netflix teases: "After a serial killer murders his family, Patrick Jane gives up his life as a phony psychic and uses his powers of observation to aid law enforcement."

Initially broadcast on CBS, the seven-season drama has established itself as a firm favourite amongst audiences, even securing an impressive 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, reports the Mirror.
