Mumbai: Vipul Shah’s film The Kerala Story 2 It was released on Friday after getting approval from the division bench of the Kerala High Court. However, there was a lot of confusion among the audience regarding the release date of the film, which resulted in the film earning only Rs 75 lakh on the first day. This figure was much lower than expectations. Trade experts believe that if the film had been released on time, the opening could have been better.
After a slow start on the first day, the film picked up pace on Saturday and Sunday. It earned Rs 4.65 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.75 crore on Sunday. Thus, the total first three day collection reached Rs 10.15 crore, indicating the interest towards the film among the audience. This increase over the weekend was a relief for the production team.
The Kerala Story 2 passes the Monday test on the fourth day
Everyone’s eyes were on Monday’s figures. The film collected around Rs 2.65 crore on the fourth day, taking the total earning to Rs 12.80 crore. Usually a decline is seen in the collections on Monday, but this film passed the Monday test with a balanced performance. If this pace continues, then by the end of the first week the film can touch the figure of around Rs 20 crore.
Budget and path to hit
The Kerala Story 2 The budget is said to be around Rs 28 to 30 crores. Accordingly, the film will have to continue performing strongly to get the tag of hit. As per trade reports, there are no major releases till March 19, which may go in favor of this film. If the viewership increases in the second weekend also, the film can recover its costs and move towards profit.
The film has received mixed reactions from critics. India Review gave it 2.5 stars and critics said that the theme of the film is very sensitive, due to which there have been protests across the country.
