Hyderabad. Bharti Airtel and Google have announced a new strategic partnership to make digital messaging more secure in India. Under this initiative, AI based spam filters and business sender verification system will be added to Rich Communication Service (RCS) messaging, especially to provide a more secure experience to Android users.
You will get benefits through Google Messages app
This feature will be available through Google Messages app. Airtel is connecting its telecom network intelligence with Google’s RCS platform to identify and block suspicious content in real-time.
According to the company, business accounts will be rigorously vetted to ensure their validity before sending any promotional or transactional messages.
Real-time spam detection with AI
Airtel is integrating its AI based spam detection tools directly into the RCS framework. With this, suspicious links, fake offers or fraudulent messages can be immediately blocked or filtered. Additionally, the identity of the genuine business sender will be verified at the telecom level, so that users receive only trusted messages.

All features of RCS will remain intact
Despite the new arrangement, popular features of RCS – such as high-resolution photo-video sharing, typing indicator, read receipts and message reactions – will remain available as before. The only difference will be that now an additional security layer will be added to these features.
Claim of major action on spam
Airtel says its AI system has blocked more than 71 billion spam calls and 2.9 billion spam SMS in the last 18 months. According to the company, these measures have reduced financial losses reported on its network by approximately 68.7%.
However, the company also indicated that some over-the-top (OTT) messaging platforms do not currently comply with telecom-grade security standards, which poses a risk.
Multi-Layer Security Framework
The new RCS system will include multiple levels of protection, such as:
Telecom Based Business Sender Verification
Following DND (Do Not Disturb) rules
Differentiate between promotional and transactional messages
Multi-layer investigation of suspicious links
If a sender is found suspicious in the AI system, his messages may be limited or completely blocked.
Both companies say this partnership shows that telecom operators and tech companies can work together to make India’s digital messaging ecosystem more secure, transparent and accountable.
