According to data released by the Ministry of External Affairs in 2023, there are a total of 217 CBSE-affiliated schools in Middle Eastern countries. All these schools provide education under the regulations of the Central Board of Secondary Education of India. Thousands of students attend these schools.

If we look at the number of CBSE schools in the Middle East, the UAE has the highest number of schools, with a total of 106 CBSE schools. Saudi Arabia has 37 schools, followed by Kuwait with 26, Oman with 21, and Qatar with 19. Bahrain has a total of 8 CBSE schools affiliated with the CBSE board.

How is education conducted in these schools?

According to reports, education in these Middle Eastern schools is similar to that in India. NCERT textbooks are used here. Examinations are also conducted according to CBSE regulations. Many schools have modern facilities, smart classes, and a good library. Sports and cultural programs are also held regularly.

Exams Postponed

An official circular issued by the CBSE stated that examinations scheduled for March 2, 2026, in some Middle Eastern countries have been postponed. The countries where this decision will apply include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The board clarified that this step was taken as a precautionary measure, given the current situation in these countries. However, the exams have not been cancelled, but only postponed.
