New Delhi:There is tremendous enthusiasm about director Nitish Tiwari’s film Ramayana, which is among the most awaited films of this year. Stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey are going to be seen in important roles in the film.

However, even before its release, the film seems to be embroiled in controversies. Some alleged leaked pictures of Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Ram look have gone viral on social media, on which a large section of internet users are reacting sharply.

How did Ram look in the leaked pictures?

In the pictures that went viral on Reddit, Ranbir Kapoor is seen wearing saffron dhoti and sacred thread. He has a black cape on his shoulders and is also wearing a wig. It has not been confirmed when these pictures were clicked, but they spread rapidly online.

Many users on the Internet especially expressed dissatisfaction with the wig and raised questions about the look.

$400 million budget… but no wigs?

Taking a dig at the alleged budget, a Reddit user wrote, "With a $400 million budget they couldn’t come up with a decent looking wig?"

Another user said, "Bollywood is really bad when it comes to fake hair and fake beard. This thing can be seen in any movie or TV show."

Many people also criticized the film citing the budget disclosed by producer Namit Malhotra in various interviews.

Comparison with ‘Adipurush’

Many users on social media compared this film with Adipurush released in 2023. One user wrote, "Looks like we didn’t learn anything from Adipurush."

Another commented, "The entire film will be made of CGI, right? Just like Adipurush."

It is noteworthy that Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon were also in lead roles in ‘Adipurush’. This film was counted among the most expensive Indian films of that time, but proved to be a major failure at the box office, earning around Rs 350 crore globally.

Starcast and technical team

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Yash will be seen in the role of Ravana in ‘Ramayana’. Sai Pallavi will play the role of Goddess Sita, while Sunny Deol will be seen as Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lord Lakshman.

The technical team of the film includes international names. Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman is giving music. Guy Norris is handling stunt direction, while motion capture expert Terry Notary is also part of the team.

A. R. Rahman had said in an interview, "This is very challenging for both of us. We are composing music for a composition that is so iconic and so important to the world. In the promo, I think they had a soundscape, then I took that and added Sanskrit words at the end and so on. The difficulty is that we are taking an epic work that every Indian knows, and we have to give them something new. We have to give something to the world, from India to the world."

When will the film be released?

‘Ramayana’ is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios. The first glimpse of the film was released in July last year. ‘Ramayana: Part One’ is planned to be released globally in October 2026, before Diwali.
