His father, Ramoji Rao Gaekwad, was a police sub-inspector, while his mother, Rambo Gaekwad, was a homemaker. He grew up alongside his brothers, Nageshwara Rao Gaekwad and Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad, and sister Aswath Balubhai Gaekwad.

Marriage to Latha Rajinikanth and her contributionsRajinikanth married Latha Rangachari in 1981, after which she became known as Latha Rajinikanth. A singer, producer and social activist, she has played a significant role in shaping the family’s personal and social commitments.

While being married to one of India’s biggest film stars, Latha has maintained a low profile. Together, they built a family rooted in shared values, spirituality and close-knit bonds.

Daughters, grandchildren and film connectionsRajinikanth and Latha have two daughters, Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Soundarya Rajinikanth, both active in the film industry.

Aishwarya was previously married to actor Dhanush, and they have two sons, Yatra and Linga. Soundarya, who directed her father in Kochadaiiyaan, has two sons, Ved Krishna (from her first marriage to Ashwin Ramkumar) and Veer (from her second marriage to Vishagan Vanangamudi).

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is also part of the extended family, as he is Latha’s nephew, the son of actor Ravi Raghavendra.
