Anthony Joshua chooses his side in Conor Benn vs Eddie Hearn feud

Anthony Joshua has backed Eddie Hearn in his feud with Conor Benn.

Benn split from promoter Hearn last month to join Zuffa Boxing, the brainchild of UFC CEO Dana White, and will earn $15million for fighting Regis Prograis on the undercard of Tyson Fury's comeback fight on April 11. Hearn has been left furious with the manner of Benn's departure, claiming his fighter refused his request to discuss the issue.

And now Joshua, who is signed to a career-long contract with Hearn, has had his say, taking to social media to post a photo of himself with Hearn at Wimbledon. His caption read:"'AJ: Did you bring the fire power Eddie? Eddie: It's tucked on my waste line mush. I'll let you know when I have a clear sight of Connor Benn [sic]"

Joshua is currently recovering from a fatal car crash in Nigeria after Christmas but could return to the ring this summer. Hearn, meanwhile, continues to rage at Benn's actions.

“I text Conor maybe four or five days later and said, ‘I really think we should have a call. For everything that I’ve done for you, I don’t think it’s fair that I should have to deal with a letter from your lawyer. Let’s just have a chat'," he told iFL TV. “Basically, man to man. And he said, ‘I heard you were quite emotional on the call. I think we should just let it all die down and talk another time.’

“I’m like, f*** me.’ And that was probably the moment where I just thought I cannot believe on the believe. To be honest, I think people get it a little bit mixed up between a fighter shouldn’t be denied an opportunity to make a load of money for their family and all this kind of stuff.

“I couldn’t agree more. This is not about that. This is just the way that you act to someone that has done so much for you and has basically saved your career. And if you listen to the Conor Benn story, I don’t want to say saved his life, but the people who were there for him like that – which you can count on one hand – played a massive part in that.

“So to forget them or to treat them with disloyalty for me is unforgivable.”
