SSC NCC Special Entry: The Indian Army has invited applications for the Short Service Commission (NSC) Special Entry - 24th Course (October 2026). Unmarried graduates can become officers in the Indian Army through this program. Online applications are available through the Army's website, joinindianarmy.nic.in. The deadline for this recruitment is March 16th.

Under the Army's Special Entry Scheme, candidates do not have to pass a written examination. Instead, they undergo a direct SSB interview.

SSC NCC Special Entry: What are the eligibility criteria?
To apply for the Army's SSC Special Entry Scheme, candidates must be graduates with at least 50% marks. They must also have an NCC C certificate with at least a B grade. They must be between 19 and 25 years of age as of July 1, 2026.

Regarding nationality, candidates must be Indian citizens. Additionally, they must be a Nepali citizen or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain countries to permanently settle in India, provided they have an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India, where applicable. Gorkhas from Nepal are exempt from the requirement for an eligibility certificate.

SSC NCC Special Entry: Vacancy

The Army has notified 170 vacancies under the NCC Special Entry Scheme. Of these, 63 are reserved for the general category, and 7 are reserved for wards of battle casualties of Indian Army personnel.

Training after Selection
Candidates selected for the course under the SSC NCC Special Entry Scheme are sent to the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, for training, which lasts approximately 49 weeks. Upon completion, candidates are commissioned at the rank of Lieutenant.

Salary of a Lieutenant in the Army
The salary during and after training is approximately as follows:
Stipend during training: ₹56,100 per month
Rank after training: Lieutenant
Basic pay according to rank:
Lieutenant: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500
Several allowances are also available, such as:
Dearness Allowance
HRA/Field Allowance
Travel Allowance
Overall, the starting in-hand salary can range from ₹70,000–₹80,000+.
