In the second semi-final of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday, Axar Patel produced a stunning piece of fielding at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as Harry Brook was caught brilliantly to give India an early boost.

England were put in a daunting task by India to chase 254 for victory in the crucial knockout game. This moment arrived during the fifth over of the inning when Jasprit Bumrah delivered a deceptive slower ball.

Brook attempted a big shot, but he mistimed his shot badly and the ball went high in the backward point area. Axar Patel sprinted 24 meters backwards while not taking his eyes off the ball. As the ball seemed like it was going to slip from his hands, he dove forward to take a breathtaking catch.

The wicket resulted in the exit of Brook who departed after scoring just 7 runs from 6 balls. The wicket had given a big blow to England in their mammoth chase..

England in Trouble After Losing Early Wickets

This was not the first wicket England lost, prior to Brook's wicket Philip Salt departed for 5 runs off 3 balls after a wonderful delivery from Hardik Pandya.

England had scored 38 for 2 at the time of Brook's wicket in 4.1 overs. Jos Buttler was on the crease trying to keep the chase alive. However the target of 254 looked mammoth for England after the innings of India.

Earlier, the India national cricket team posted 253 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Their batting innings was led by Sanju Samson who had a blistering knock of 89 runs off 42 deliveries, featuring eight fours and seven sixes.

Apart from Samson's exceptional inning Ishan Kishan smashed 39 runs off 18 balls while Shivam Dube scored 43 runs in 25 balls. The cameos from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma helped the side to a huge total.

With such a huge target ahead and already 2 wickets down, it would be a massive ask for England to go to the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. Axar Patel's stunning catch of Harry Brook may prove to be a deciding moment in the match
