Chasing the target of 254 runs, Bethell played a stormy century of 105 runs in just 48 balls with the help of 8 fours and 7 skyscraper sixes. Although he was eventually run out and England lost by seven runs, Bethel’s innings gave him the record for the highest individual innings in a T20 World Cup knockout.

Jacob Bethel came to bat when England’s score was 2 wickets for 38 runs and the team was continuously losing wickets in the pressure situation. The team had lost 4 wickets for 95 runs in the 8th over. In this situation, Bethal made a stormy partnership of 78 runs with Will Jacques and brought England back into the match. His innings increased the pressure on the opposition team and created excitement in the entire stadium.

Earlier, New Zealand’s Finn Allen had played an unbeaten inning of 100 runs against South Africa and became the first player to score a century in the T20 World Cup knockout.
