8th Pay Commission: 1 crore employees-pensioners will be affected, proposals can be sent till 30th April

The 8th Central Pay Commission has sought suggestions and proposals from central government employees, pensioners, employee unions and other concerned people. The Commission has issued a message on its official website saying that eligible individuals and organizations can send their opinions and suggestions through the online portal within the stipulated time limit. This online portal has started from March 5, 2026 and suggestions will be accepted till April 30, 2026.

Who can give suggestions?

  • According to the Commission, many types of people and organizations can give suggestions in this. These include.
  • Central Government Employees (Industrial and Non-Industrial)
  • All India Services employees
  • defense forces personnel
  • employees of union territories
  • Officers and employees of Indian Audit and Accounts Department
  • Members of regulatory institutions (except RBI) formed under an Act of Parliament
  • Supreme Court officers and employees
  • Officers and employees of the High Court (whose expenses are borne by the Union Territory)
  • Judicial officers of inferior courts of Union Territories
  • Pensioners and Employees Association/Union
  • Central Government Ministries, Departments and Organizations

Impact on more than 1 crore people

The 8th Pay Commission is being considered very important for more than 1 crore central employees and pensioners, because its decisions will affect their salary, allowances, pension and purchasing power.

Employee organizations are also preparing proposals

According to Shivaji Vasireddy, General Secretary of Federation of National Postal Organizations (FNPO), employee organizations are also preparing their detailed proposal. This proposal could be a document of about 300 pages, which will be submitted during the commission meeting.

Memorandum will have to be submitted online only

The process of online memorandum submission for the 8th Pay Commission will run from March 5, 2026 to April 30, 2026. The Commission has made it clear that only suggestions sent through the portal will be valid. Documents sent on paper, e-mail or PDF files will not be accepted.

Official website also launched

The Central Government has started the official website of the 8th Pay Commission (8cpc.gov.in). This commission was constituted in November 2025 and has now started working. After the launch of the website in February 2026, the Commission had also released a questionnaire of 18 questions, in which opinions have been sought from employees and pensioners on issues related to salary, allowances and rules.

Who can give feedback

The Commission has invited various groups to provide feedback, such as ministries and government departments, states and union territories, government employees, judicial officers and employees of courts, members of regulatory institutions, employee unions and organizations, pensioners, researchers, academicians and common citizens. Responses to these questions can be sent through the MyGov portal till 16 March 2026.

What is the work of 8th Pay Commission

The main work of the commission is to review the salary, allowances and other facilities of the central government employees and suggest changes in them. This also includes simplifying the pay structure, keeping in mind the needs of the departments and the demands of the present time.
