IND vs AUS Test Day 1: After suffering a whitewash at the hands of Australia in the recent ODI series, the Indian women’s team is now facing a Test challenge. The only five-day Test match between the two teams is being played at the WACA Ground in Perth. The Indian team had a disappointing start on the first day of the match on Friday (6 March). The Australian team, which won the toss and decided to bowl first, created tremendous pressure with the new ball and forced half of the Indian team to return to the pavilion by the second session of the first day.

By 36 overs, India’s score was 109 runs for 5 wickets, due to which Team India appeared to be under pressure. Host Australia’s fast bowler Annabel Sutherland shook the Indian batting order with her accurate bowling.

Top order failed again

The start of the Indian innings was not as expected. Opener Smriti Mandhana was out early. Mandhana returned to the pavilion after scoring only 4 runs.

After this, Shafali Verma tried to handle the innings for some time and scored 35 runs in 48 balls, but she too could not play a long innings.

Young batsman Pratika Rawal scored 18 runs, but India’s position could not be strengthened due to continuous falling of wickets.

Even the middle order could not survive

Middle-order batsman Jemimah Rodrigues batted patiently and scored 22 runs in 57 balls, but the run rate remained very slow. Jemima is still on the ground

The team expected a big innings from captain Harmanpreet Kaur, but she was out after scoring 19 runs in 15 balls.

After this, India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma also could not last long and was out after scoring 7 runs. This wicket came on the first ball of the 34th over, which proved to be the fifth blow for India.

Sutherland’s brilliant bowling

Annabel Sutherland was the most impressive in Australia’s bowling. She consistently troubled the Indian batsmen with accurate line and length and got the important wickets of Shefali, Pratika and Deepti.

Apart from him, other bowlers also did good support bowling, Dorsey Brown and Lucy Hamilton also took one wicket each. Due to which Indian batsmen could not score runs freely.

Challenge before India

Now the biggest challenge for the Indian team is to handle the innings. The responsibility will now be on wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh and lower order batsmen to take the team to a respectable score.

If India has to make a strong position in this Test match, then the remaining batsmen will have to make long partnerships.

Australia’s strategy successful

The decision taken by Australia to bowl first after winning the toss has proved to be completely correct so far. The fast bowlers took full advantage of the new ball and kept the Indian batting under pressure from the very beginning.

What will happen next?

There is still a lot of time left in the first day’s play and the competition is completely open. If India’s bottom line is successful in adding some runs, the team can make a comeback.

However, in the current situation, Australia seems to be in a strong position and the Indian team will have to bat with patience and composure to make a comeback in the match.
