The Rashtriya Swatantra Party, which was formed ahead of the 2022 general elections, was recently looking weak as its chairman was embroiled in several controversies. However, there was a major change in the political atmosphere after Shah, the very popular mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, joined the party before the elections. RSP, a new political force, has emerged as an early lead as counting of votes continues across the country.

According to the Election Commission, counting of votes is underway in the parliamentary elections and the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has taken an initial lead on 44 seats.
