Petrol-diesel Prices Hiked in Pakistan: The effects of the new war breaking out in the Middle East are now visible. There has been a huge increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in Pakistan and it is feared that other countries may also fall prey to it in the coming time. The Pakistan government on Friday announced an increase in the prices of both petrol and diesel by 55 Pakistani rupees per liter.

The news came out on Friday morning itself that Pakistan has only 26 days of fuel reserves left. In such a situation, to save fuel, options like work-from-home and online classes are also being considered.

Petrol price reaches Rs 321

The new prices announced by the government will be applicable from 12 midnight on Saturday. After this, the price of diesel will be Rs 335.86 per liter and the price of petrol will be Rs 321.17 per liter. That means fuel prices have increased by about 17 percent.

Iran-Israel war responsible for price rise

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik made this announcement at a press conference along with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb. Referring to the ongoing conflict between Iran, America and Israel, Malik said that this conflict has now gone beyond the borders, due to which the prices of petroleum products are increasing rapidly. According to him, the prices of many products are seeing an increase of 50 to 70 percent.

Ishaq Dar said that the Pakistan government is making efforts along with other countries to calm the situation in the Middle East, but it is difficult to say how much time it will take. He also mentioned the impact of activities in the Strait of Hormuz. Also assured that as soon as the situation becomes normal, the government will immediately reduce the prices and fuel prices will be reviewed every week.

Shahbaz talked to Saudi government

According to Dar, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also talked to the Saudi government. He said that to meet the energy needs of Pakistan, two ships of PNSC have been sent towards Yanbu and Fujairah ports. Apart from this, Saudi company Aramco has also assured that if a bigger ship is made available, then it will be filled with oil from Yanbu and transported to Pakistan’s waters, from where crude oil can be continuously supplied to the refineries through PNSC ships.
