India allowed an Iranian ship to anchor at Kochi port amid the US attack. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed this on Saturday. Tehran thanked ‘friend’ India for sheltering the ship.

In an interview given to media outlet ANI, Mohammad Fatahli, Iran’s ambassador to India, said, “The entire situation is being monitored after the attack on the Iranian warship IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean. All aspects are being looked into.” He added, “Already another ship of Iranian Navy, IRIS Lavan, has anchored in Kochi. I thank the Government of India for this.”

On the other hand, Jaishankar said on Saturday, “We received a message from Iran. It was said that one of their ships is facing technical problems. Hence, it wants to anchor at the nearest port.” “After receiving this message on February 28, the vessel was allowed to enter Kochi port on March 1. This is a humanitarian step,” he added.

It is known that IRIS Lavan also came to India for military exercises. A total of 183 workers were on that ship. They are currently staying at the Indian Naval Base in Kochi. It is not yet certain when the ship will leave India and return. Questions are already being raised in diplomatic circles about the whole issue, will Trump be angry because the Iranian ship is in India? Currently, New Delhi has close ties with Israel. Will Tel Aviv take well to harboring Iranian ships?

The problem is also likely to escalate. According to the famous news agency Reuters, America and Israel are going to take strict action against the Iranian ship. The US administration has ‘ordered’ to temporarily ‘detain’ Iranian ships or personnel in Sri Lanka. The US administration claims that India should also follow the same path, according to the Reuters report. America claims that no Iranian warships or Iranian personnel can be ‘released’ until the conflict with Iran is resolved. After leaving India, this Iranian ship may also be attacked by the US, the fear cannot be ruled out.
