March Pixel Drop: New personalisation features and AI tools coming to your Pixel phone
Gadgets Now | March 8, 2026 2:39 AM CST

From smarter "Circle to Search" capabilities to expanded life-saving satellite features, here is everything coming to your Pixel devices.

AI that shops and tasks for you
The fan-favorite Circle to Search is getting a major upgrade. Users can now identify multiple objects at once—such as every dish in a bento box or every piece of an outfit in a single photo.

Virtual Try-On: A new "Try It On" button allows you to see how clothes look on your own photo or a model without leaving the search result.

Gemini Taskmaster: Gemini can now act as a personal assistant in the background, handling "busy work" like ordering groceries, booking rideshares, or reordering your daily coffee through your favorite apps.

Socialising and Music
Google is making it easier to stay in the moment with friends. A new feature called Magic Cue recognizes when you are texting about dinner plans and prompts Gemini to suggest restaurants in a pop-up window, so you never have to leave the chat.

For music lovers, the built-in music recognition tool is officially graduating. Now Playing is now a standalone app, allowing you to browse your entire discovery history and launch tracks directly into your preferred music streaming service.

At a Glance: Smarter Commutes and Custom Styles
The "At a Glance" widget is becoming more powerful, adding real-time transit delays, sports scores, and financial portfolio updates to your home screen. Users can also further personalize their devices with AI-generated custom icons, including a new SpongeBob SquarePants theme pack.

Safety and Security Goes Global
Google is expanding its protective features to more regions:

Scam Detection: This AI tool, which listens for common fraud speech patterns, is now available in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Germany, and Japan.
Call Notes: Users in India can now record and transcribe calls for easy review.
Earthquake Alerts: Pixel Watches will now provide real-time standalone earthquake notifications, offering users precious seconds to take cover.
Satellite SOS: Previously limited, Satellite SOS is now expanding to Canada, Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Your Pixel Watch is Now a Security Key
The March update creates a tighter bond between your watch and phone. Your Pixel Watch will now send an instant alert if you leave your phone behind and will automatically lock the phone the moment you move out of range.

Additionally, the intuitive one-handed gestures (like the double-pinch) first seen on the Pixel Watch 4 are now available on the Pixel Watch 3, making it easier to answer calls or pause music when your hands are full.
