The debate continues on the playing eleven before the T20 World Cup final. Former player Aakash Chopra has opposed the change in the team. He has advised to retain Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakraborty despite their poor form.
Ahmedabad: Now only a few hours are left for the match between India and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final. Before this, the debate regarding India's playing eleven has intensified. Concerns have increased due to the poor form of opener Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakraborty proving expensive. But former Indian player Aakash Chopra believes that no changes should be made in the team.
Aakash Chopra says that Abhishek Sharma should be retained in the team, even though he has scored only 89 runs in seven innings of this tournament at an average of 12.71. Chopra said on his YouTube channel that Abhishek is still the number one T20 batsman in the world. He also said that in a team of eight batsmen, it is not necessary that everyone performs well together.
The demand to replace Varun Chakraborty with Kuldeep Yadav is also strong. But Chopra has advised to trust Varun only. He said, 'On some special day everything will change and Varun will return to his old form.' Chopra made it clear that minor changes can be made in the batting order, but no one should be dropped from the team.
Chopra also rejected the suggestion to further strengthen the batting by including Rinku Singh in the team. He said that in a big match like the final, it is right to trust the same team which has been playing till now.
Aakash Chopra's selected Indian XI: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Tilak Verma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dubey, Axar Patel, Varun Chakraborty, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh.
