A 7-month pregnant woman was murdered for dowry in Belagavi, Karnataka. The husband and father-in-law are accused of strangulating her with a rope. Police have arrested both the accused and are investigating the case.
Belagavi: In Belagavi, Karnataka, a pregnant woman was murdered for not paying the remaining dowry money. Husband and father-in-law are accused of murder. 30 year old Deepa Magadumma was seven months pregnant. Police have taken husband Abhishek and his father into custody in this case.
This heart-wrenching incident took place in Alkhannoor village of Chikkodi. It is alleged that Deepa was murdered by strangulation with a rope. After the murder, Abhishek tried to make it look like a normal death. But, when the relatives saw the marks on Deepa's neck, they immediately informed the police.
Deepa's body was found lying on the bed. When the police reached the spot and investigated in front of the relatives, they found several wounds like blade cuts on Deepa's hands. Deepa's family members have alleged that Abhishek and his family used to constantly harass Deepa for the remaining dowry money and gold.
Police said that Deepa was 7 months pregnant at the time of the murder. Without even taking this into account, Abhishek and his father brutalized Deepa and killed her. On the complaint of Deepa's relatives, the police have arrested Abhishek and his father. This case comes under Harugeri police station. Police say that the matter will be thoroughly investigated on the basis of the complaint.
