SSC JE Paper 2 Exam Date 2026: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the exam date for Paper 2 of the Junior Engineer (JE) Exam 2025. According to the official notice released by the Commission on March 9, the exam will be held in April 2026.
The SSC Junior Engineer Exam is used to recruit engineering positions in central government departments. Paper 2 is the second stage of the selection process and will be conducted in computer-based mode (CBT).

According to the Staff Selection Commission, Paper 2 (Computer-Based Exam) of the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical) Exam 2025 will be held on April 7, 2026.
How will the selection process be conducted?
Tier 1 Exam: In this stage, candidates will be asked 200 multiple-choice questions. Questions will be based on general knowledge, reasoning, logical ability, and the chosen engineering subject. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, and an incorrect answer carries a negative 0.25 mark. The exam duration is 2 hours.
Tier-2 Exam: Questions in Tier-2 are based solely on the candidate's chosen core engineering subject. There are 100 questions. Each correct answer carries 3 marks, and an incorrect answer carries a negative 1 mark. This exam also lasts 2 hours.
Document Verification and Medical Test: Candidates who qualify Tier-1 and Tier-2 are called for document verification, where they must produce all their original certificates. Following this, candidates undergo a medical test to ensure they meet the health standards set by the department.
What will be the exam pattern?
Candidates who pass the Tier-1 exam of SSC JE 2026 will be eligible to appear for the Tier-2 exam. This exam is based on the candidate's chosen engineering subject and tests their technical knowledge in depth. The exam duration is 2 hours.
In Tier 2, candidates must appear for one paper, either Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, depending on their subject. Each paper consists of 100 questions and carries a total of 300 marks.
