The Staff Selection Commission has released the final vacancy list for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025, announcing a total of 15,130 vacancies across various ministries, departments, and government offices of India.

According to the official notification, these positions fall under Group B and Group C categories in multiple central government departments. The updated vacancy details were officially published on March 6, 2026, providing candidates with a clearer picture of the recruitment opportunities available through SSC CGL 2025.

Candidates participating in the recruitment process will soon be able to submit their post preferences through the option-cum-preference window, which will open in March on the official SSC website.

Vacancies Available in Multiple Central Government Departments

The vacancies released under SSC CGL 2025 are distributed across several major ministries and departments of the Government of India, including:

• Ministry of Finance

• Ministry of Defence

• Ministry of Home Affairs

These posts cover a wide range of administrative, financial, and auditing roles in the central government structure.

Category-Wise Vacancy Distribution

As per the official data released by SSC, the 15,130 vacancies are distributed among various reservation categories as follows:

• Unreserved (UR): 6,464 posts

• Other Backward Classes (OBC): 3,834 posts

• Scheduled Castes (SC): 2,223 posts

• Scheduled Tribes (ST): 1,134 posts

• Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 1,475 posts

This distribution reflects the reservation policy followed by the central government for recruitment in various departments.

Department With the Highest Number of Vacancies

Among the departments listed in the vacancy announcement, the largest number of openings has been reported in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

• Office Superintendent under Central Board of Direct Taxes: 6,626 posts

The second-highest vacancies are in the Inspector (Central Excise) position under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, with 1,306 posts.

Another significant recruitment opportunity is available in the Controller General of Defence Accounts, where 1,174 vacancies for Auditor posts have been announced.

Additional vacancies include:

• Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Central Secretariat Service – 982 posts

• Tax Assistant in CBDT – 1,294 posts

Smaller numbers of vacancies are also available in departments such as the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of External Affairs, and Enforcement Directorate.

Age Limit for SSC CGL Posts

The age eligibility criteria for SSC CGL posts vary depending on the specific role.

• Many Group B posts have an age limit of 18 to 30 years.

• Several Group C posts, such as Tax Assistant, Auditor, and Upper Division Clerk, generally have an age range of 18 to 27 years.

• For the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) position, candidates can apply up to 32 years of age.
