Mumbai: Actor-director R Parthiban took to social media to explain his comments against Trisha at a recent award show. Sharing an eight-minute-long video on Instagram, Parthiban explained the context.
R Parthiban’s comments on the Trisha controversy
In the clip, he doubled down, saying that Trisha should not have attended the wedding reception with Vijay. Parthiban addressed the reasons behind his statements about Trisha at the award function.
He said, “There is a difference between a mistake and wrongdoing. A mistake is something done unknowingly. A wrongdoing is something done willingly. Similarly, there is a difference between an apology and expressing regret.”
He also dismissed Trisha’s claim that he specifically asked for her image to be displayed at the event.

Parthiban went on to add, “When I was speaking about Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar, a photo of Trisha appeared on-screen. I was genuinely shocked and did not know how to react at that moment. The claim that I specifically requested her photo to be displayed is 100 per cent wrong,”
“I am not a slave to anyone. I have never been paid to attend an event, and I never will be. I will not join any political party or compromise my integrity for money,” he said.
The controversy started after Parthiban was asked to share his opinions about actors he had worked with in the past at an award function.
When the photo of Trisha appeared on screen, he said, “Indha Kundavaiye konjaneram kunthavaikkirathu nallath (It is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while).” He added, “It is better if she doesn’t step out because it is creating a lot of issues.”
Parthiban’s words stirred a massive controversy. Netizens were miffed and called it a comment made in poor taste.
Trisha’s response to R Parthiban
Trisha hit back at the director, stating, “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder, (sic)” she said. She also wrote in her post that she had been informed by the organisers of the event that her name and picture had been included at the last minute at the request of “an individual conveyed through his assistant.”
