In summer, mint is truly the star of the kitchen, be it mint chutney, raita or sherbet. Apart from enhancing the taste of all these, mint also makes you feel very refreshing. But if not stored properly, it turns black and gets spoiled quickly. Today we will tell you some easy kitchen tricks by which mint can remain fresh for about 30 days.
clean first
Wash the mint leaves along with the stalks with lukewarm water. After removing the dirt, dry it completely with a kitchen towel or cloth. Keep in mind that there should not be water left on the leaves, otherwise they rot quickly.
cut the stalk
Cut off a little part of the bottom (1–2 cm). This keeps mint fresh for a longer time.
place in a glass of water
Fill some water in a glass or jar. Keep the mint stalks in it like you keep a bouquet of flowers.
cover from above
Place a light plastic bag or loose cover over the leaves.
keep in the fridge
Keep it in the vegetable section of the refrigerator. Change the water every 3–4 days. With this method mint can remain green, fresh and aromatic for 2–4 weeks.
Bonus Tip (if you want to store it even longer)
Cut mint leaves and freeze them in an ice tray with water or olive oil. When needed, take out the cubes directly and use them in chutney or sherbet.
