Record iPhone production in 2025

According to the ET report, some sources, on condition of anonymity, have said that around 55 million iPhones will be assembled in India in 2025. However, this data has not been officially released yet, so the source did not reveal his identity. If we talk about last year, in 2024, about 36 million iPhones i.e. about 3.6 crore were assembled in India. Thus, a huge increase in iPhone production has been seen within a year. Actually, Apple makes about 220 to 230 million (22 to 23 crore) iPhones worldwide every year and now India’s share in it is continuously increasing.

Why is iPhone manufacturing increasing in India?

The government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme is also a major reason for the increase in iPhone production in India. The scheme, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to make India a manufacturing hub and make the country the ‘world’s factory’. Have to make. Under this scheme, companies are given various incentives to increase production in India, due to which big companies like Apple are attracted to invest here.

New iPhone models are also being prepared in India

Apple is now assembling many of its new models in India. According to reports, the company is assembling all versions of the iPhone 17 series in India, including the high-end Pro and Pro Max models. Apple’s major suppliers for iPhone manufacturing in India are Foxconn Technology Group, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron Corp. Apart from this, older models like iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 are also being made in India, which are used for the local market as well as exports.

Tariff dispute became a big reason in China

Although Apple still makes most of its iPhones in China, the ongoing tariff dispute between the US and China has created a lot of problems for the company. Shipments from China till 2025 have also been affected. Due to this, Apple and its suppliers have had to shift the production of many devices made for the US market from China to other countries. In such a situation, India emerged as the best option for Apple, where the company rapidly increased its production. However, no Apple spokesperson has officially commented on this matter.
