However, amidst all this, a case of paper leak and cheating using the artificial intelligence (AI) chatboard, ChatGPT, has surfaced in the Maharashtra Board Exam 2026. The matter has been exposed. The administration has taken action and suspended 81 teachers accused of cheating using ChatGPT. This is said to be the first case of cheating using ChatGPT in the state.

Let's find out what the entire matter is. For example, how was the Maharashtra Board exam paper leaked, and how was the cheating attempt made using ChatGPT? We will learn how this matter came to light and what will happen next.

Paper leak on WhatsApp, mass cheating using ChatGPT
This entire matter is related to the 10th and 12th board exams conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSE). This case has come to light from the Chausala examination center in Beed district, Maharashtra. According to a TV9 Marathi report, the Flying Squad detected the entire incident during an investigation. According to the report, the board exam paper was leaked via WhatsApp shortly after it was distributed, and students were then given solutions using ChatGPT. According to the report, similar suspicious cases have been brought to the board's attention at some centers in Beed, as well as in Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Nashik divisions.

Teachers' Collusion, Suspension
Teachers' complicity has been revealed in this case. The investigation revealed that, with the help of teachers, images of the exam were being sent via WhatsApp within minutes of the exam starting. The correct answers, obtained from ChatGPT, were then sent to students via letters or digital media. According to the report, the investigation also revealed some shocking facts: teachers and staff from some local educational institutions were running this racket. Mobile phones seized during the investigation provided evidence of the paper and AI-generated answers. A departmental inquiry has been initiated, with 81 teachers suspended.
