Bihar government has made a big achievement in the field of health. Now patients will be treated through robotic surgery in the prestigious hospital IGIMS of the capital Patna. Giving information about this achievement, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Manish Mandal said that the first successful robotic surgery in Bihar was performed by the Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant Department of IGIMS on Wednesday. This surgery was successfully performed on a patient suffering from gall bladder stone (GB stone).
The team of doctors performed a successful operation
Dr. Manish Mandal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh and Dr. Netranand were involved as surgeons in this robotic surgery. The entire medical team including Dr. Vinod K Verma, Dr. Bibha and Dr. Sonam Patel played an important role as anesthetist.
Trial going on in different departments
Dr. Manish Mandal said that the trial process is going on this week before the formal inauguration of the robotic surgery. This trial is being conducted every day in different departments. These include other departments including General Surgery, Urology, Gastro Surgery, Pediatric Surgery.
Health Minister will inaugurate on March 15
To provide better treatment to the hospital patients through AI based modern technology, the robotic surgery equipment will be formally inaugurated by the Health Minister on Sunday, March 15. After this, patients will start getting the benefits of this technology regularly.
Credit given to government and medical team
IGIMS Director Dr. Binde Kumar thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, surgical team of gastro surgery, anesthesia team, biomedical engineering department and OT staff for this achievement. He said that with everyone’s cooperation, a new history of robotic surgery has been made in Bihar.
Surgery at low cost in government hospital
Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Mandal said that the cost of robotic surgery for general ward patients will be Rs 50 thousand per case. Whereas for patients of private or special ward, its cost has been fixed at Rs 75 thousand. This fee is almost half of that of private hospitals.
26 year old girl from Shivhar became the first patient
The first patient to be treated with robotic surgery is a 26-year-old girl from Shivhar district of Bihar. Head of the department, Dr. Manish Mandal told that the girl was complaining of stomach ache and vomiting for three months. Investigations revealed gallstones and laparoscopic cholecystectomy was initially planned.
Operation done with robotic technology
When the patient got information that robotic surgery has started in the Surgical Gastroenterology department of IGIMS, she came here and got admitted for robotic surgery. His successful operation was done on Wednesday. With this, she became the first patient to undergo operation through robotic surgery in any government or private hospital.
