Arsenal are reportedly considering a potential offer for Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento this summer amid the absence of contract discussions at St. James' Park. The 23-year-old England international has two years remaining on his existing deal on Tyneside, rendering him an appealing prospect for the Gunners.

The Telegraph suggests Eddie Howe's side would demand a fee around £60million for the versatile defender, who can operate on both flanks of the defence, though primarily as a right-back. The Magpies are hoping to retain Livramento at the club, should he be prepared to enter contract negotiations before the summer transfer window commences, but acknowledge his market value could diminish if they cannot reach fresh terms.

The report suggests Arsenal's interest will further complicate matters, with contract discussions postponed for now, while Man City is also reportedly interested in securing him, though that interest has been played down in recent weeks. The defender has proven a significant success at St. James' Park following his £32m transfer from Southampton in 2023, with Newcastle seeking double their investment.

That could influence Arsenal's strategy with the club reportedly needing to offload at least one first-team player in the summer, prompting questions about Ben White's future at the Emirates after dropping behind Jurrien Timber in the hierarchy. Arsenal's challenge in the transfer market has been offloading players for substantial fees, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's £35m switch to Liverpool in 2017 remaining their highest sale. The report suggests Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus could be put up for transfer this summer, with it 'almost certain' the club would require funds from sales before pursuing Livramento.

Notably, Livramento is represented by the same agent as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, which could prove advantageous for the Gunners. There are, however, understood to be worries regarding the defender's fitness history. He was sidelined for an entire campaign following a severe knee injury whilst at Southampton.

He's also managed just 11 starts across all competitions, with knee and hamstring issues this season, coming back into the side as a second-half substitute in Newcastle's draw with Barcelona.
