Railway Rules for ID Proof: The Railways has made a significant change to the rules for those traveling by train with family or friends. If you're planning a group trip, learn about the new rules.

Every day, millions of people travel by train on various routes across the country. Some travel for work, some for studies, and some for family outings. Especially during holidays and festivals, a large number of people travel with family or friends on a single ticket. The Railways has now made a significant change for such travelers.

According to the new rules of the Indian Railways, if a passenger is traveling with a family or group on the same PNR, then each person will no longer need to show separate identification cards. Now, just one passenger will be considered sufficient. This will provide significant convenience, especially for passengers traveling with families.

In fact, it often happens that four to six people are traveling on a single PNR. During ticket checking, TTEs would often ask for identification from all passengers, which often caused problems. To ease this situation, the Railways have implemented this new rule.

According to the new rule, if tickets are booked for six people on a single PNR, one of the six passengers must have an Aadhaar card or another valid identity card. The identity of the remaining passengers will be assumed based on that identity card.

However, the identity card must be completely valid, such as an Aadhaar card, voter ID, PAN card, passport, or any other government identity card. If the TTE asks for an identity card during checking, at least one passenger should be prepared to show it.

The Railways believes that this change will simplify the ticket checking process and reduce hassles for passengers. This rule can prove especially convenient for those traveling with families.

So, if you're planning a train trip with family or friends in the coming days, be sure to remember this rule. Ensure at least one person in your group carries a valid ID. This will avoid any problems during your journey. You'll receive an OTP (Option Number). Enter it to complete your login.
