South Korean YouTuber offers $2.4M apartment giveaway to promote 60-cent membership

South Korean YouTuber Bokyem, who has over 17 million subscribers, is giving away a 3.57 billion won (US$2.4 million) apartment to promote his 990 won (60-cent) monthly membership.

In a video posted on Bokyem TV on March 1, the 38-year-old creator said the 165-square-meter apartment has been completely renovated and comes fully furnished, according to The Straits Times.

“I invested not just millions of won, but millions of dollars into this project,” he said.

The apartment unit is equipped with a 100-inch television, a high-end gaming computer setup, air conditioning and basic household furniture.

“Each piece of furniture costs more than 10 million won,” he said while presenting the home. He did not disclose the apartment’s location or other details.

According to KoreabooBokyem has previously drawn attention for holding large-scale events for his subscribers, giving away expensive prizes including electronics and luxury cars such as Porsches and Lamborghinis.

The announcement quickly went viral, with the video attracting about 380,000 comments in just a few days.

“I wanted to give subscribers a proper gift. It’s my way of saying thank you for all the love over the years,” he said.

Since launching in 2014, he has uploaded 9,278 videos to his YouTube channel and accumulated more than 4.12 billion views.
