New Delhi: Residents of Shalimar Bagh area of the capital Delhi may soon get major relief from the problem of waterlogging and traffic jams. On Saturday (March 14), Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several important development projects in the assembly constituency. During this, he made a surprise inspection of the ongoing construction works and issued strict instructions to the officials.
The Chief Minister said that these initiatives will not only reduce the problem of waterlogging during monsoon, but will also strengthen the roads and overall infrastructure of the area.
Emphasis on strengthening the drainage system
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the remodeling work of storm water drain on Haiderpur Main Road (from bus stand to DA Block). This work is being done under ‘New Master Drain Plan 2025’, in which RCC drains will be constructed in place of old drains. This will significantly improve the drainage capacity of the area. Apart from this, Bhagwan Mahavir Marg and K. l. The work of making precast factory made RCC drain was also started on Bagga Marg.
Officials said that drainage improvement works have also been started on Road No. 319, RUB Shalimar Bagh, Chaudhary Mehar Chand Marg, Road No. 320 and Swami Shraddhanand Saraswati Marg, so that the entire area can be freed from waterlogging.
Traffic will become easier, health facilities will also increase
To address the traffic problem, the Chief Minister also launched the construction of slip road at Shalimar Chowk and developing U-turn near Railway Under Bridge (RUB). This step will reduce the traffic pressure at the Chowk and will provide safe and easy travel facility to the passengers.
Along with this, while strengthening the health services at the grassroots level, the Chief Minister also inaugurated ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandir’ in Sahipur village Chaupal. This center will play an important role in providing primary health services to the local residents.
Instructions to officials regarding quality and time limit
Apart from these inaugurations, CM Rekha Gupta also conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing road widening and drainage improvement works at Singalpur Labor Chowk. He took details of the progress of the work from the officials present on the spot.
He clarified that the Delhi government is committed to making roads, drainage, traffic and health facilities in every corner of the capital world class and no negligence in these works will be tolerated.
