New Delhi: Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav, ICC chief Jay Shah and head coach Gautam Gambhir visited the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai with the T20 World Cup 2026 trophy to seek blessings. India thrashed New Zealand in a grand finale in Ahmedabad to win the title for a record third time and become the first side to defend the T20 World Cup.
India became the first team in the history of competition to win the title o their home soil. Meanwhile, all of them offered prayers at the revered temple seeking blessings for their triumph and also spared some time to clinch pictures with the priests, police and others officials inside the premises.
Chants hailing Lord Ganesha and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Kai’ were also heard in the surroundings while they posed for the pictures with the trophy in their hands in front of the Lord Ganesha’s idol.

A day before on Thursday, coach Gambhir had visited the Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib in the national capital to offer prayers and continue his series of spiritual visits before and after the marquee event. After India’s massive victory last Sunday, Suryakumar, Gambhir, and Jay Shah went to a Hanuman Temple next to the stadium in Ahmedabad, where they offered prayers and held the trophy.
Gambhir had also visited multiple temples prior to and during the tournament. India’s flamboyant batter and opener Abhishek Sharma also bowed his head down at the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra on Friday. Abhishek, who played a vital role in the finale, offered prayers also spending some time with the fans.
