Incident Overview

A security guard associated with US Representative Jasmine Crockett lost his life during a police standoff in Dallas earlier this week. Initially identified as Mike King, CBS News later confirmed his real name as Diamon-Mazairre Robinson. He reportedly operated a business that provided off-duty police officers for security roles. Robinson had a history of legal troubles, with seven theft-related arrests recorded between 2009 and 2012, resulting in fines and probation.

According to reports from CBS and TMZ, the incident unfolded when Robinson fled into a hospital parking garage, where he remained inside a vehicle as police attempted to apprehend him. Officers resorted to using tear gas to coax him out, but he emerged brandishing a firearm, prompting police to open fire.

Details of the Standoff

The confrontation escalated when police located Robinson in the parking garage of Children’s Health Hospital. As officers pursued him, he barricaded himself inside a car, leading to the deployment of a SWAT team. The standoff extended for a considerable duration, during which officers made efforts to persuade him to exit the vehicle. Eventually, the suspect emerged, reportedly armed, and pointed his weapon at the officers, resulting in them firing their weapons. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The identity of the deceased was not disclosed immediately, and an investigation into the shooting is currently underway.

Background of Diamon-Mazairre Robinson

Sources revealed to CBS News Texas that Robinson had been part of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett's security team, serving during her time in office and throughout her recent Senate campaign. Images surfaced showing him in close proximity to Crockett at various public functions.

Robinson's criminal record dates back over ten years, with multiple theft arrests in the Dallas area. After pleading guilty to these charges, he adopted the alias Mike King. Authorities suspect that he falsely claimed to be a detective with the United States Capitol Police, which may have led to a federal investigation and an outstanding warrant for impersonating a law enforcement officer. This warrant was the basis for the attempted arrest that culminated in the standoff. As of now, Representative Crockett's office has not commented further on the incident, and the Dallas Police Department has yet to provide additional details.
