Sanju Samson, India's prominent cricketer, described his recent T20 World Cup victory as surreal, admitting he often wakes up questioning if it truly occurred. He expressed optimism that India's rising talents will lead to more such victories in the future.

The Indian cricket team made history by clinching their third T20 World Cup title, becoming the first team to defend the title while also winning it on home soil, following a remarkable 96-run victory against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Samson's Journey: A Cinematic Experience

Samson shared that winning a World Cup had always been a dream, but his journey was filled with unexpected turns, resembling a movie plot. A pivotal moment for him was during the match against Zimbabwe, where he shifted his focus from individual performance to the team's needs. He stated, "When I wake up in the morning, I still wonder if it has really happened. However, I believe that with the caliber of players we have, such victories will become more frequent. You can dream about your goals, but the path to achieving them is unpredictable."

"My career has been a prime example of this unpredictability. I aspired to achieve this a few years back, wanting to win a World Cup for my country, but the journey had its own narrative. I enjoyed the process, and when the team needed me to step up, I realized my role was crucial. The focus shifted from personal achievements to what the team required, especially during the Zimbabwe match, where I understood my contribution was vital," he added.

Samson's Record-Breaking Performance

During the recently concluded T20 World Cup, Samson made a remarkable comeback, overcoming previous inconsistencies to become India's top run-scorer in the tournament. He delivered crucial performances, scoring a series of half-centuries from the virtual quarterfinal against West Indies to the final against New Zealand. In total, he accumulated 321 runs across five innings, boasting an impressive average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37, including 27 fours and 24 sixes. This achievement made him the third-highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history, surpassing Virat Kohli's record of 319 runs from the 2014 edition, marking the highest runs by an Indian in a single T20 World Cup.

Mohammed Siraj's Miraculous Journey

Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj referred to the team's victory as a "miracle" from his perspective, as he was not part of the original squad and was only included as a replacement for the injured Harshit Rana. He remarked, "I was not in the initial squad, but after playing a game, I found myself part of two World Cup-winning teams. I consider it a miracle for me."
