No one likes cleaning the toilet, but it's a necessary job that must be done to keep your toilet and your bathroom hygienic.
While the job can seem gross to some, it's one of those jobs that gets much worse the longer you leave it, so cleaning your toilet regularly is vital if you want the job to stay quick and easy.
Most homeowners will have a toilet brush in their bathroom to make scrubbing the toilet even easier. You simply squirt bleach around the bowl and use the brush to scrub the porcelain, removing any marks that might be present around the bowl and in the water at the bottom.
But according to one cleaning expert, toilet brushes are not the most hygienic of items to keep in the bathroom, and she would never own one herself.
Kaye Mitchell said in a social media post that she has "never owned" a toilet brush, and even baulks at the thought of using a silicone one that is easier to clean, as she can't stand the thought of storing the brush in her bathroom.
In her Instagram post, the cleaning fan shared the steps she takes to keep her toilet pristine without ever using a toilet brush, claiming that her method is more hygienic as it doesn't involve storing a brush that has just been in your toilet.
She said: "People are always shocked when I tell them I've never owned a toilet brush. Not even this [silicone] type, as much as they are slightly better. I just can't bear the thought of storing one. However, my toilet is always pristine, and this is how I do it."
Kaye explained she keeps her toilet clean by using bleach in the bowl twice every single day. She adds bleach every morning and every evening to get rid of marks, and with this method, she has never had to scrub the bowl.
She detailed: "Bleach in the bowl twice a day, morning and night. Because a bleach a day keeps the skiddies away. This method truly works. I've never had to scrub the inside of a toilet in my life, and I do not intend to."
The cleaning guru said she always uses Domestos bleach as she finds it the most "powerful" of the ones she's tried, but if you have a bleach product you prefer, then that should do the job.
For the rim of her toilet, Kaye uses the Domestos bleach foam, which is designed to be sprayed upside down so the formula can get into the crevices.
She hailed the product as a "life-changer" and said she uses it every day. She also cleans the base of her toilet with Cif Power Foam every day, which finishes her cleaning routine.
She said: "My toilet is never marked and always bright white. I just pop the lid down and go about my day.
"Working smarter and not harder! I genuinely believe we don't require a toilet brush. But if you do have one, I totally get it. I just thought I'd share what I do."
